Wow! That was some serious stuff, man. The Bernard Samson epic is behind me and they were some great times. The ending was only okay, but that didn’t detract from the total experience. This was a masterful spy story, romance, and drama all wrapped in to one and I think any serious fan of the spy genre should undertake it if they have a few months to spend.

Countryside in Mundelein is one of the better values around. I cruised around on Saturday during prime time for $52 with cart. There are two courses here and today we played the easier and and slightly less interesting Traditional course. Check this link for my thoughts on the Prairie course.

Saigon Sisters
Every country has their sandwiches. Heck, every state has their sandwiches. I love sandwiches. I don’t just eat sandwiches, I rock sandwiches. I just rocked a Vietnamese sandwich from a local place that seems to be experiencing some serious growth. They’re called Saigon Sisters and I’m planning to start eating my way through their sandwich catalog based on this experience.

[aside] Denver Food May 2013
We did a little ‘splorin on this Denver trip with family. We hit two great “gourmet” food markets, Marczyk (with it’s huge hot sauce collection) and Tony’s (and it’s killer blueberry biscotti). We also hit two great coffee shops, St. Mark’s and Stella’s. The awesomest experience, however, was the Donut Maker donut shop (check the notes on the pic), with it’s surprisingly crappy strip mall storefront architecture, which did not reflect the deliciousness of what was inside.

CSI – Black Sabbath Episode
I heard about this via the KSHE Twitter feed a few months ago. I actually put it on my calendar at that moment because that’s the only way I’d remember to watch a network TV drama. Then I got a little advert on the way home yesterday while listening to a CBS radio station, so I was fired up for some Ozzy.
What an epic this is. The Bernard Samson novels number 10 if you consider Winter, the only one not in a trilogy. Hope is the second to the last one, so I’m just about done. It’s been quite a ride, comparable to Game of Thrones as far as pure enjoyment goes.

[via BoingBoing.net] Even though Tabasco comes in behind my beloved Cholula in the hot sauce race, I was still mesmerized by this video. It describes the whole process of making Tabasco, which includes hand-picked peppers, oak barrel aging for three years, and extensive quality control.
Faith returns to the first person perspective of main character Bernard Samson (last book, Spy Sinker). It’s the the first of the final trilogy and I’m reading them one right after the other – like one, big, thousand page book – so maybe you can quit bothering me and let me get on with it.
