3 Days to Kill

I was pleasantly surprised with this stylish thriller. Not great, but good. It was directed by this dude called McG and written by Luc Besson (he did The Professional), so it had a lot going for it even before you toss in the star power of Kevin Costner and Hailee Steinfeld (from True Grit).

It’s an old, tired premise: government assassin wants out of the game but his bosses drag him back in for one last job because they hold all the cards. It’s kept somewhat fresh. The assassin’s relationship with his daughter is kind of interesting and the assassin’s handler from the CIA is this tough woman character who’s pretty cool.

Even my mom liked it, despite all of the violence.
